My Hero Academia powers.

Every Quirk and every Quirk type, with the price each power charges and the closest Power on our list.

My Hero Academia is a manga by Kohei Horikoshi that ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from 2014 to 2024, with an anime adaptation by Bones. It is set in a world where most people are born with a superpower, and being a hero is a licensed job you train for at school.

Those powers are called Quirks. Each person usually has one, it shows up in early childhood, and it often runs in the family. Fans sort Quirks into three types: Emitters that send something out of the body, Transformations that change the body while switched on, and Mutants that are simply part of how the body is built.

Why every My Hero Academia power has a price

The price

My Hero Academia rarely lets a Quirk come free. Most of the costs are bodily: a Quirk is part of its holder's body, so the body pays when it is pushed. Overuse shows up as a Drawback the holder feels right away, such as nausea for Zero Gravity, a short-circuited brain for Electrification, or broken bones for One For All in a body that is not ready. Other Quirks run on something that gets used up, like Momo Yaoyorozu's body fat or Toga's supply of blood. Weaknesses are usually just as specific and come from outside: Dark Shadow shrinks in bright light, Engine stalls when its exhaust is blocked, and Brainwashing fails if the target never answers. The story treats these limits as the starting point for strategy, not as fine print.

  • One For AllWorld-Class

A Quirk that is handed from one holder to the next. Each holder adds their own strength to the stockpile, so it grows with every generation, and the Quirks of earlier holders slowly wake up inside it.

Price · A body that is not ready for it breaks. Early on, a single full-power punch shattered the bones in Izuku's arm, so he had to learn to use only a small share of it at a time.

    Known holders

    • All Might
    • Izuku Midoriya

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • All For OneWorld-Class

Takes other people's Quirks, keeps them and can give them to someone else. The holder can stack many stolen Quirks and combine them in one attack.

Price · Every extra Quirk is a strain. People who are given Quirks can lose the ability to think or speak, and even a strong host has to fight to keep control of their own mind.

Weakness · It works only at touching distance: the holder has to get a hand on the target, so it cannot take a Quirk from flames or a shadow the target sends out.

    Known holders

    • All For One
    • Tomura Shigaraki

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • ExplosionMajor

His palms sweat a fluid that acts like nitroglycerin, and he can set it off at will. The blasts are strong enough to fight with and to fly on.

Price · Many big blasts in a row leave his arms and shoulders throbbing with pain.

Weakness · Cold weather: the sweat takes longer to ignite.

    Known holders

    • Katsuki Bakugo

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • Half-Cold Half-HotMajor

Ice from the right side of his body and fire from the left, the two Quirks of his parents combined into one.

Price · Using one side too long freezes or overheats his whole body, so he has to balance it with the other side.

Weakness · Enough raw strength can smash straight through his ice.

    Known holders

    • Shoto Todoroki

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • HellflameWorld-Class

Produces and controls extremely hot flames from anywhere on his body, which made him the second-ranked and later the top hero.

Price · Long fights push his body heat to dangerous levels, and unlike his son he cannot cool himself down.

Weakness · Rain and wet weather slow him down.

    Known holders

    • Endeavor

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • Zero GravityMajor

Touching something with all five fingertips cancels its gravity, and it floats until she presses her fingertips together.

Price · Floating too much at once, or herself for too long, makes her nauseous, sometimes to the point of throwing up.

Weakness · Anything she cannot reach out and touch, such as an opponent who fights from range.

    Known holders

    • Ochaco Uraraka

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • ElectrificationMajor

Covers his body in electricity and lets it out in a burst, but he cannot aim the discharge on his own.

Price · Going past his wattage limit short-circuits his brain, and he spends about an hour dazed and unable to use the Quirk.

Weakness · Insulating materials block it.

    Known holders

    • Denki Kaminari

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • CreationMajor

Builds any non-living object out of her own body fat, as long as she knows what it is made of down to the molecules.

Price · Every object uses up lipids from her body. Big or complicated ones take longer and leave her drained, so she eats a lot to keep a supply.

Weakness · Constant pressure: an opponent who keeps attacking leaves her no time to build anything.

    Known holders

    • Momo Yaoyorozu

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • BrainwashingMajor

Anyone who answers him falls under his control and does what he says.

Price · He can only give simple orders; nothing that asks the target to think hard.

Weakness · Staying silent keeps you safe, and a strong jolt or sharp pain snaps a victim out of it.

    Known holders

    • Hitoshi Shinso

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • Warp GateMajor

His body is a dark mist that opens portals. Whatever goes into the mist comes out at another place he chooses.

Price · He has to know exactly where a portal will open, and heavy use wears down his body.

Weakness · The armored area around his neck is solid, so pinning it pins him.

    Known holders

    • Kurogiri

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • RewindWorld-Class

Turns a living body back to an earlier state. It can undo an injury, or keep going until a person is undone completely.

Price · She struggles to switch it off. As a small child it ran out of control and erased her father, and it needs stored-up energy before it works at all.

Weakness · Erasure shuts it down, and it only affects living things close to her.

    Known holders

    • Eri

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • HealMinor

A kiss that speeds up a patient's own healing, so wounds close in minutes instead of weeks.

Price · The patient pays, in stamina. Serious injuries leave them exhausted, and someone too weak to cover the cost could die from the healing.

    Known holders

    • Recovery Girl

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • Dark ShadowMajor

A living shadow creature that comes out of his body, fights on its own and talks back.

Price · In the dark it grows huge and vicious, and he can lose control of it.

Weakness · Bright light shrinks it and makes it weak.

    Known holders

    • Fumikage Tokoyami

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • ForesightMajor

After touching someone and meeting their eyes, he can watch that person's future like a silent film for the next hour.

Price · Once used, it needs a full day before it works again. The visions have no sound and no dates, and he long believed what he saw could not be changed.

Weakness · Breaking eye contact before he touches you.

    Known holders

    • Sir Nighteye

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • MagnetismMajor

Gives people near her a magnetic charge, then pulls them together or throws them apart.

Price · It never works on her own body.

Weakness · Distance: anyone more than about 4.5 meters away is out of reach.

    Known holders

    • Magne

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • New OrderCosmic

Touch something, say its name and set a rule for it, and it has to follow that rule until she lets it go. She uses it on objects, on enemies and on her own body.

Price · Only two rules can run at once, so every new rule means dropping one, and there is a ceiling on how strong she can make herself.

Weakness · A rule on a living person fails if her idea of who they are does not match their own.

    Known holders

    • Star and Stripe

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • EngineMajor

Engines built into his calves give him bursts of speed on foot, with exhaust pipes sticking out of his legs.

Price · Pushing past the limit stalls the engines until they cool down, and they need fuel; he drinks orange juice to keep them running.

Weakness · Blocked exhaust pipes, for example plugged with ice, slow him to a halt.

    Known holders

    • Tenya Iida
    • Ingenium

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • Fierce WingsMajor

Large red wings whose feathers he can detach and steer one by one, to carry people, cut or scout.

Price · Every feather he sends away makes flying harder, and destroyed feathers take days to grow back.

Weakness · Fire, which burns the feathers.

    Known holders

    • Hawks

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • InvisibilityMinor

Her body is invisible all the time; only her clothes show.

Price · It never switches off, and to really disappear she has to give up her clothes and face the weather.

Weakness · Sharp senses can track her, and anything that sticks to her skin, like a coat of mushroom spores, shows her outline.

    Known holders

    • Toru Hagakure

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • AnivoiceMinor

Animals that hear his voice understand him and do what he asks.

Price · He has to speak out loud, and the animals have to be close enough to hear him.

Weakness · Louder sounds drown him out, and it does nothing to humans or to fake animals.

    Known holders

    • Koji Koda

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • VinesMajor

Her hair is a mass of thorny vines that she can stretch, grow and send out as a wall or a net.

Price · The vines need water and sunlight to grow back.

Weakness · They are tough, but they can be cut.

    Known holders

    • Ibara Shiozaki

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • Earphone JackMinor

Cords from her earlobes end in jacks that pick up faint sounds through walls and floors, or blast her heartbeat into them as a shockwave.

Price · Overuse makes her ears bleed.

Weakness · A very loud noise while her jacks are plugged in overwhelms her.

    Known holders

    • Kyoka Jiro

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • PermeationMajor

Lets his body pass through anything, so attacks go through him and he can sink through floors and walls.

Price · It is hard to control: without careful timing he falls straight through the ground, and his clothes do not come with him.

Weakness · An attack that catches him before he switches it on.

    Known holders

    • Mirio Togata

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • TransformMajor

After drinking someone's blood she can take on their exact appearance, and later even their Quirk.

Price · Each form lasts only as long as the blood she has drunk, and she copies looks, not memories or manners.

Weakness · Blood that has been tampered with can hurt her when she drinks it.

    Known holders

    • Himiko Toga

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • GigantificationMajor

She grows to a giant about 20 meters tall.

Price · There is no in-between: she is either her normal size or the full giant.

Weakness · Narrow streets and enclosed spaces leave her no room to move.

    Known holders

    • Mt. Lady

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • Fat AbsorptionMajor

His body fat swallows punches and blades, and he can burn that fat to throw all the stored force back in one blow.

Price · The counterattack uses up his fat, and it takes about three days of eating to get it back, with the Quirk barely working until then.

Weakness · Quirks that eat away at his fat and flesh.

    Known holders

    • Fat Gum

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

    • Tamaki Amajiki

    Held by

    Closest Power on our list

  • Muscle AugmentationMajor

Grows extra layers of muscle fiber over the body for huge strength and armor.

Weakness · Vibration that shreds many fibers at once, or a hit stronger than the muscle can hold.

  • EmitterQuirks that send something out of the body or act on things around it: fire, electricity, portals, rules. The body looks ordinary until the Quirk is used.
  • TransformationQuirks that change the holder's body only while they are switched on, then let it go back to normal.
  • MutantQuirks that are part of the body itself and never turn off, such as wings, engines or an invisible body.

FAQ

What are the three Quirk types in My Hero Academia?

Fans and the series' wiki sort Quirks into Emitter, Transformation and Mutant. Emitters send something out of the body, like Explosion or Electrification. Transformations change the body only while they are on, like Gigantification. Mutants are part of the body and never switch off, like Engine or Fierce Wings.

Does every Quirk in My Hero Academia have a drawback?

Almost every Quirk the story shows in detail has a limit. Many are bodily: nausea, overheating, bleeding ears or broken bones when the Quirk is overused. Others run on something that runs out, like body fat or blood. The few without a clear cost on screen usually have a sharp outside Weakness instead.

What is the strongest Quirk in My Hero Academia?

One For All and All For One are the two the plot is built around, since both grow by collecting power from others. New Order, which can rewrite how a target behaves, is the closest to reality warping. On our scale we rate New Order Cosmic and the other two World-Class.

Can I make my own Quirk for an OC?

Yes. Our Quirk Generator rolls a name, a Quirk type, an effect, a Drawback and a Weakness, and you can lock the parts you like. The Drawback is the part that makes a Quirk feel like it belongs in the series, so keep it bodily and specific.
